What does it take to become a scientific diver? Join 2023/24 GUE NextGen Scholar Harry Gunning as he travels to the Netherlands to take part in the GUE Scientific Diver course with instructor Erik Wurz. Through a combination of classroom learning and practical in-water training, Harry develops the skills needed to support underwater research, marine conservation projects, and scientific data collection. Designed for both scientists and citizen scientists, the GUE Scientific Diver course introduces divers to underwater survey techniques, data gathering, marine species identification, research methodologies, and the role diving can play in advancing scientific understanding of aquatic environments.
