Unique crossing located next to Redcar Central in the coastal town of Redcar, North Yorkshire. Instead of barriers, this crossing has sliding / moving gates, manufactured by EDS. Due to space restrictions with the Redcar Signal Box, this crossing has never had barriers. Up until December 2015, there was motorized wheel gates which swung across the road. They were temperamental as they would often fail if there was high winds. The new gates have likely fixed that issue, adding to the fact that they have no contact with the road surface.
