PASSENGERS by Robert Silverberg

For the last three years, alien beings dubbed "passengers" have routinely been taking control of human bodies and subsequently leaving them with amnesia. Charles wakes up one day to discover that, this time, he's been absent for three nights. There are, in his room, traces of a woman he simply must meet again... This story, which won the 1970 Nebula Award and second-place for the Hugo Award in the same year, represents a somewhat rare instance in the author's career, regarding one of his short stories: that of never having appeared in a magazine. It was originally published in the fourth of Damon Knight's anthology series called Orbit in 1968.
