Today's natural science is characterized by naturalism and materialism. On the one hand, it assumes that there is nothing beyond nature, and therefore that "the supernatural" does not exist. On the other hand, nature is essentially viewed as the material world, perceivable with the five senses. The Dutch natural scientist and philosopher Bernardo Kastrup is also a "naturalist" – but he believes that the essence of nature is consciousness. According to this, consciousness is not a byproduct of the brain, as is commonly assumed, but rather it underlies everything from the very beginning and therefore does not disappear with physical death. Bernardo Kastrup is one of the most important representatives of philosophical idealism. One of his much-discussed books is entitled "Why Materialism is Baloney." Reto Eberhard Rast is a physician and death researcher in Switzerland. He spoke with Bernardo Kastrup for "Thanatos TV" about his worldview.
