How To Build Kayak Scupper Plugs for $5 or Less!

A couple of months ago I purchased my first kayak; a Field & Stream Eagle Talon 120 sit-on-top. At the recommendation of the salesman at Dick's Sporting Goods, I also purchased a set of Yak-Gear scupper plugs. A set of 4 plugs cost nearly $13 and to my dismay wouldn't stay seated in the scupper holes. I set out to solve this problem in my usual style: Build It Myself! The result was a set of scupper plugs that worked twice as well and cost only $5. Only two components are needed to build a set of quality scupper plugs; foam practice golf balls and 550 paracord. I've provided a link to the golf balls. (I bought mine at Academy Sports, but these are very similar.) Paracord can be found nearly anywhere these days. You won't need much of it.
