Judge’s Law Clerk Recalls Terrifying Attack, Thought She Was Going to Die

The second witness called to the stand in Deobra Redden’s trial was Judge Mary Kay Holthus’ law clerk, Michael Lasso. Lasso recalled the chaos that unfolded after Redden attacked the judge during a hearing. He stated that he feared the judge might die from the attack and described how difficult it was to pull Redden off of her. Redden's defense attorneys argued that he was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, which allegedly caused him to lunge at the judge after he failed to take his medication.
