Wimborne Railway Society's Open Day 2026

The Wimborne Railway Society (WRS) held its 2026 Open Day at the Allendale Community Centre, Wimborne on 7th June. Most of the layouts on display were either the Society's own layouts or those of its members, with a invited few visitors. An interesting few hours so thanks to the organisers and exhibitors. GWR/Western Region branch line featuring china clay traffic with the SR/Southern Region having running rights. 06:33 Dean Hill MoD - 009 gauge; 4mm narrow gauge - Paul Steedman, WRS. GWR/Western Region branch line featuring china clay traffic with the SR/Southern Region having running rights. 12:23 Printers Yard - 0 gauge; 7mm/ft scale - Dave Coasby, WRS. Fictitious exchange sidings set just outside Brighton in the 1950s/1960s. 17:09 Turners Wharf - 00 gauge; 4mm/ft scale - Wimborne Railway Society. New project depicting a commercial dockyard. 19:15 Allendale Abbas - N gauge; 2mm/ft scale - Vincent Sherry, Allendale Community Centre. A picturesque village scene with a simple loop and branch line. 20:39 Dorbury North - N gauge; 2mm/ft scale - Blandford Forum Railway Club. A layout built on a door and set somewhere on the Settle & Carlisle line in the 1950s/1960s. 21:41 Lulworth Castle - 00 gauge; 4mm /ft scale - Steve Green, WRS. Small branch line terminus of the LMR connecting with the SR on the Swanage branch. 26:16 Dick's Shunting Layout - 0 gauge; 7mm/ft scale - Dick Collinshaw, WRS. Can you put the wagons in the right order? 28:26 Stourvale Junction - 0 gauge; 7mm/ft - Wimborne Railway Society. A 1950s/1960s S&D based layout under construction. 29:06 Shottesford Mill Extension - 0 gauge; 7mm/ft scale - Central Southern 0 Gauge Group. A new part of the Shottesford Mill layout.
