One of the main cities in Spain and the capital of the Costa del Sol, Málaga City has an impressive history and an even more interesting present. This city's tourist offer is vast. Its beautiful beaches and numerous leisure opportunities are joined by an attractive monumental heritage and a network of first-rate museums. The birthplace of Picasso is today a cultural center of reference in Europe. In the stunning old town area of the city, Málaga's rich history comes to life in the form of many intriguing and often spectacular sights. The majesty of the Roman theater, Alcazaba and the 14th century Gibralfaro Castle hints at a history defined by battle and glory. The beautifully baroque Cathedral de Málaga is flanked by fragrant gardens, and a pretty café-lined square. The boutiques and technology stores that populate the chic Calle Marqués de Larios offer a glimpse of a city that has come to terms with its unique position at the heart of southern Spain’s premier tourist destination. And the most emblematic street of the city culminates in the Plaza de la Constitución, presided over by the Fountain of Genoa in the Renaissance style. Málaga truly is a sunlit paradise with miles and miles of enchanting shoreline, mesmerizing scenery, and pristine beaches. The region enjoys a mild climate throughout the year as it is snuggled between the two river valleys (Guadalhorce and Guadalmina) and is surrounded by the mighty mountains, thanks to its geographical location.
