Palm - sized Axe. Customization in the smallest details. Phoenix on metal. Salt etching
Hello!!! In this video I decided to make an art-customization of an old axe. I have had the axe for a long time, it is interesting for its unusually small size, because of this I did not dare to start a project with it. But the time has come. I decided to fantasize on the theme - the Phoenix bird. I will draw on metal using salt and electricity. I read about this method in an old magazine. Using this simple technique, I drew the smallest image on the axe. The result was interesting. What do you think? As a basis for the design, I used an old rusty axe bought at a flea market. The axe is old, but the tempering was in excellent condition, I decided to leave it as is. I decided to give this axe a more elegant shape, which I came up with myself. I cut off a little unnecessary metal. Cleaned and sanded. When the blank was prepared, I decided to apply an image of a Phoenix bird to it. After electrochemical etching with salt, I blackened the metal using the bluing method. It was decided to make the handle from birch with a growth, cutting the blank as close to the growth as possible, I got an interesting pattern on the wood. After the handle was ready, I covered it with oil to protect it from moisture and, of course, to show the pattern of the wood structure. I was pleased with the result of this work and I hope you liked it too. SUPPORT THE AUTHOR: Friends! You can support my channel by becoming its sponsor and like-minded person. This will help us to make more complex projects that require a lot of effort and time. More details: / @mihailkupec In a closed format there will be photos of my sketches, photos of working moments in the workshop, photos from life... In the plans for like-minded people: I will shoot videos from the workshop, creating tools for creativity, small works within the framework of my channel, life outside of work. Thank you very much! And so. Palm-sized axe. Why did I choose a drawing with a Phoenix? The idea with this bird came spontaneously. The bird is mythical, a symbol of rebirth. Thinking about this project, such an idea came to me. After all, every person in adulthood to one degree or another was in a place akin to this bird. A Phoenix turned to ashes - the loss of a job, loved ones, health or other difficulties, and each time a person takes his will into a fist and is reborn from the ashes into a bright flame, like the Phoenix itself, which I will draw. The Phoenix is found in many cultures. I will write about it in general terms. The Phoenix is one of the most famous mythological birds, a symbol of immortality, renewal and fortitude. Its image is found in the legends of different peoples, from Ancient Egypt to modern pop culture. The first mentions of the Phoenix are found in ancient Egyptian mythology, where it was known as Bennu - a sacred bird associated with the sun god Ra. Bennu was believed to have arisen from the fire that burned on a sacred tree near the Temple of Ra. In ancient tradition (Greece, Rome), the Phoenix was described as a majestic bird with gold and scarlet feathers, living for hundreds of years. When the time of his death approached, he built a funeral pyre of aromatic herbs, burned in the flames, and then was reborn from the ashes young and renewed. This bird personifies: Rebirth - the ability to rise after a fall. Immortality - the cyclicality of life and death. Fire and sun - purification and light. Wisdom - due to a long life. In Christianity, the Phoenix became a symbol of the resurrection of Christ, and in China, its counterpart, Fenghuang, is considered the embodiment of harmony and well-being. Phoenix in modern culture - Harry Potter - Fawkes, Dumbledore's phoenix, has healing tears and the ability to appear at the right moment. Marvel Comics - The Phoenix Force gives Jean Gray incredible abilities. Literature and games – The Phoenix often appears in fantasy as a powerful spirit or ally of heroes. Did the Phoenix really exist? Although it is a mythical creature, some researchers suggest that the prototype could be a flamingo (due to its bright plumage) or a bird of paradise. However, the main strength of the Phoenix is not in reality, but in its symbolism: it reminds that even after the most difficult trials, one can be reborn. The Phoenix is not just a bird, but an eternal symbol of hope. ❗ Dear friends, if you decide to repeat what you saw. Do not forget - observe safety precautions. Gloves, mask, glasses, etc. Even small electricity requires proper handling. It is important not to forget about safety measures when working. Thank you. What you see is just a flight of creative imagination, and not instructions on how to do it. Thank you! #howtodraw #engraving #drawing #metaletching #howtomake
