How to: Install Mishimoto Radiator: 1996-2004 Mustang GT 4.6, SN95 Ford

Today I’m going to show how to remove & install a radiator in a 96-04 Mustang. Also, I'll bleed the air from the cooling system. This car only has 80,000 miles and today I’m going to install its 4th radiator! The first 2 were leaking at the plastic end tanks. So, for the third radiator, I spent $200 on a solid aluminum one without the plastic ends. Just a few years later, once again, it’s slowly leaking. I did some research and found this is a known problem for the SN95 Mustang, due to the front end flexing from torque. The flex is enough to put stress on the radiator and that’s what causes them to crack and leak over time. So this time I’m installing a Mishimoto Radiator, part # MMRAD-MUS-97B. It’s 2-row and all aluminum, but with a patented mounting design that absorbs the stress from the front end flexing. Mishimoto didn’t sponsor this video or give me a discount. The 96 radiator’s driver side upper mount is triangular and located a few inches out from the tank. I read there were problems with 96’s running hot and Ford put out a TSB, which involved moving the mounts out and fitting the 4” wider 97 radiator in them, along with the A/C condenser, brackets, and fan.
