Day 7: π©πͺ CAVE EXPLORATION & PATIO VISITORS: Discovering Bing Cave! π¦βπ¦π¨
Day seven was an absolute masterclass in discovering the hidden underground world of Germany, topped off with a perfectly relaxing home evening! Today we drove out to explore the incredible Bing Cave (BinghΓΆhle) tucked away in the rugged hills of Franconian Switzerland. From squeezing through thousands of years of geological history to enjoying standard local treats and watching the resident garden wildlife, it was a day full of wonder! To get to the entrance, Isolde, Wolfgang, and I walked up a notoriously steep hill to reach the hidden mouth of the cavern! Uncovering Geological Wonders: Inside, it was absolutely phenomenal. Discovered back in 1905 by Nuremberg industrialist Ignaz Bing, this narrow, intimate show cave is a rare example of a dry prehistoric riverbed. We carefully walked through the meandering passages, trying our absolute best not to knock our heads on the low limestone ceilings! We were surrounded by fascinating structures formed over thousands of years by nothing but chalk, minerals, and dripping water. Ice Cream & Cappuccinos: After making it back out to daylight, we treated ourselves to a well-deserved stop for some creamy ice cream and warm, frothy cappuccinos. Wimbledon & Patio Sunsets: We returned home and spent the afternoon completely glued to the television watching a brilliant game of Wimbledon tennis. Our Resident Evening Guests: As the sun began to go down, we sat out on the patio to relax. We were perfectly entertained by the antics of the household cats, and we were even visited by the resident neighborhood hedgehogs who come by to enjoy the food Isolde leaves out for them! Ended the day with a massive smile and drifted off to sleep. ππ¦πΎ #BingCave #FranconianSwitzerland #GermanyTravelVlog #BinghΓΆhle #CaveExploration #TravelGermany #SouthAfricanInGermany #HedgehogsOfInstagram #Wimbledon2026 #DaySeven #Wiesenttal
