Audio Technica AT33EV First Impression!
The Audio Technica AT33EV is a low output moving coil cartridge that i decided to try after wrestling with the Hana SL in my particular setup. This is simply a first impression video but boy am I impressed! As of the filming of this video it only had a few hours on it. I've since put a few more on it and feel this could be a great fit for my system and listening tastes. Already I like it's character - absolutely quiet in the groove, a very lovely top end that is detailed and never harsh or edgy, a gorgeous midrange that makes vocals come alive and a wonderful deep and tuneful bass response. Great sense of space, imaging and an uncanny balance that just makes you want to play record after record to discover how it will lend its magic to each one. Is it the last word in detail and resolution? No, and that may be an issue. Is it slightly euphonic? Perhaps a bit, it's too soon to tell. The Audio Technica AT33EV could be a keeper. I have two weeks to decide. I know one thing for sure - i don't miss the Hana and would not get that specific model for my system as it is now.
