ZDF kippt die Brandmauer: Lanz feiert Zusammenarbeit mit der AfD als Erfolg! — Genau zur Sommerpause

In his last show before the summer break, on July 16, 2026, Markus Lanz brought a man into the ZDF studio who was doing exactly what the host had warned against six weeks earlier: Luca Piwodda, 26 years old, the honorary mayor of Gartz an der Oder, had been openly collaborating with AfD city councilors for two years. In his town, the AfD garnered 54.8 percent of the first-preference votes in the federal election—and yet the city council unanimously approved seven wind turbines. When asked about anti-democratic statements, Piwodda told ZDF that this hadn't happened so far. On June 4, Lanz had declared that the AfD was not simply an ordinary party. On July 16, he said of Piwodda: "Learning from him means learning how to win"—thus interrupting an East German civil rights activist mid-warning about September 16.
