Hi all It has been raining here in Johannesburg for almost a week non-stop and we decided to make a hotter than usual mutton curry and add some gadra beans for a little bit of a change from the usual potatoes. More spice and heat make for a perfect bunnie chow curry base! Ingredients 1.5kg lamb meat, cut and rinsed 1/4 cup oil 1 large onion, chopped 1 large cinnamon stick 2 bay leaves 1 tsp saunf (fennel) seeds 2 star anise *1 tbs salt (adjust to taste) a handful of curry leaves a handful of fresh thyme heaped tsp crushed ginger and garlic 2 tbs mixed masala 2 tbs pure chillie powder 1 tsp hurdee (tumeric) powder 1 tsp garam masala 1 tsp dhania and Jeera powder 3 med tomatoes, chopped fine 2 cups gadra beans dhania to garnish We served with soft roti and fresh carrot salad but will also make for the perfect bunny chow!
