Yesterday, Jeju suffered heavy snowfall and strong winds, paralyzing airspace and transportation. A temporary shutdown of runways resulted in the cancellation of 167 flights and stranding over 10,000 passengers. Furthermore, over 20cm of snow fell on Hallasan Mountain, forcing the closure of all trails and mountain roads. Currently, the snow has frozen, creating icy roads and black ice in many areas. If you're heading out, please leave earlier than usual and be especially careful about traffic and pedestrian safety. The bitter cold will ease starting this afternoon. The morning temperature in Jeju City started at around 2 degrees Celsius, and the daytime temperature will be 8 degrees Celsius, about 6 degrees higher than yesterday. Regional temperatures are currently at 1 degree Celsius in Seongsan and 2 degrees Celsius in other regions. The daytime temperature will be similar to the average for this time of year, with Jeju and Gosan at 8 degrees Celsius and Seogwipo at 11 degrees Celsius. Waves will reach up to 3.5 meters in the open seas off the southern coast. Other seas will see somewhat higher waves, reaching up to 2.5 meters. Looking at the skies, the country is expected to be mostly clear, with flights expected to operate smoothly today. Rain or snow is expected in some areas from tomorrow morning until Wednesday. For the time being, daytime temperatures will rise to around 10 degrees Celsius, so there will be no significant cold snap.
