The Breakdown That Saved This Triumph Stag

This Triumph Stag was on its way to a car show when it broke down just outside my house. At first it looked like an inconvenience to the owner. As it turned out, it may have been a very lucky escape. The culprit was a badly deteriorated fuel hose that had kinked and was starving the engine of fuel. While investigating, I discovered that fuel was also dripping onto the hot exhaust manifold. Had the car continued its journey, things could have ended very differently. What started as a simple breakdown quickly turned into a deeper inspection of the car. Along the way I replaced the fuel lines, vacuum hoses, filters and rocker cover gaskets, changed the oil and air filter, sorted battery terminal issues, repaired some interior trim, and tackled a timing chain replacement that revealed even more problems lurking beneath the surface. Sometimes a breakdown is just a breakdown. Sometimes it's a warning.
