Il turbo storico della Lancia Delta rivisto da Garrett (e l'esclusivo attuatore replica SAITO!)
The historic Lancia Delta turbo reimagined by Garrett (and the exclusive SAITO replica actuator!) Good morning from SAITO. In today's video, we'll discuss two Garrett turbochargers, modern replicas of the turbo originally fitted to the Lancia Delta. The Classic line recently developed by Garrett is truly exciting because there's a great passion and a thriving market in Italy for historic turbocharged cars like the Lancia Delta, Renault 5, and Alfa 75, to name a few. We'll also look at the SAITO replica version of the original actuator, which features all the features of the one used in racing. For the Garrett Classic line, please visit our website: https://www.saito.it/p/turbo-garrett-... Our turbocharging solutions are also available for the Lancia Delta: ■ SAITO SD300: http://www.saito.it/p/kit-turbo-sd300... ■ SAITO SD320: http://www.saito.it/p/kit-turbo-sd320... ■ SAITO SD360: http://www.saito.it/p/kit-turbo-sd360... For cracked or damaged manifolds, 2 mm thick HiSi 304 steel components are also available for the 8 and 16 versions. In particular, the actuator support and the end of the rod aren't entirely convincing. However, it's still a turbocharger that does its job. If you need to restore a vehicle with a damaged original turbine or a cracked exhaust manifold—a common occurrence on these cars—it can be a good solution. The second turbocharger is the one that really impressed me (ref. 917375-5005W). It is a well-crafted replica of the turbo from the "Deltone," the Lancia Delta Integrale. It features the classic 0.48 A/R turbine housing and a 60-trim compressor from the T04 family. Aesthetically, it resembles the original, but with more advanced aerodynamics to improve efficiency. Over the years, aerodynamic development of turbochargers has led to significant improvements: efficiency has gone from around 68% to today's values between 76 and 78%. This means greater air flow, efficiency, and reliability, because at the same flow rate, the turbocharger operates at lower RPMs, with tangible benefits in terms of performance and durability. The only issue still concerns the actuator: the bracket is correct, but the one used isn't entirely satisfactory. And this is precisely where we, at SAITO, intervened. THE ACTUATOR DEVELOPED BY SAITO We therefore decided to recreate a replica of the original Lancia Delta actuator. The goal was to create a component as faithful as possible to the original design, designing a dual-port actuator. Those familiar with the Delta will remember this solution. In production cars, the lower port was not connected: it was only used in racing configurations, while on road cars, only the main pressure line was connected. Another important element is the quick adjustment system. A right-left adjuster was included that allowed the actuator's calibration to be changed without removing the retainer and removing the rod. Simply loosen the two nuts and rotate the central adjuster to lengthen or shorten the rod, allowing for quick adjustments between races. In my opinion, this is an important solution, because an iconic turbine like this deserves an actuator worthy of the application. For this reason, I recommend adopting the component we developed, which is more faithful to the original.
