On June 13th, LDP Policy Research Council Chairman Takayuki Kobayashi, along with Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Norikazu Suzuki, who represents Yamagata Prefecture's 2nd district in the House of Representatives, visited the prefecture's Horticultural and Agricultural Research Institute in Sagae City. They inspected trees with horizontally extended branches to reduce labor in cherry harvesting, as well as the latest machinery that sorts fruit by size and color using high-precision cameras. Governor Yoshimura requested government support from Chairman Kobayashi and Minister Suzuki to maintain and develop fruit-producing areas such as cherries. The request includes measures such as ensuring a stable supply of materials whose prices are soaring and promoting the development of AI-powered agricultural technologies.
