Excelsior Rag by Joseph Lamb (1909, Ragtime Piano)
Discord: ThatWonWeirdKid#3298 YouTube: UrFavRagtimeGuy TikTok: @vincent_wilson This rag just feels cheerful and sounds like something to listening to after you accomplished something big, as the cover of the piece shows. It was written in 1909, and was the first rag to be published with G flat major in it. Most music publishers didn't like publishing pieces that were in many sharps or flats, but Lamb somehow accomplished it. It makes me wonder if that's why he named it "Excelsior" Rag, like he accomplished this goal of being the first person to have a rag published in Gb (flat) major.
