Solo Exploring the Petroglyphs and Farmsteads of Picture Canyon Colorado

In the middle of nowhere, southeast corner of Colorful Colorado, 25 miles down not horrible dirt roads you'll find Picture Canyon. A canyon thats been around for millions of years. Dinosaurs, Natives Americans, Homesteaders and common day explores have all been coming here to take pictures lol No, but really. The signs say that there are Dinosaurs tracks at this location, although we didn't find any. But what we did find on our 8+ mile hike was lots of Petroglyphs. An amazing amount all over the place. My favorite was the tiny Deer!! You can also find evidence of an old farmstead. There's even a tiny oasis that the boys enjoyed after our hike! Oh yeah, and all the cool rock formations! We started our hike in the morning as the sun was starting to peak over the canyon walls. We hiked somewhere around 8+ miles, it took us around 5 hours. There is plenty of small trees and tall shrubs to take breaks under, away from the sun. It is the desert, so I recommend bringing plenty of water. We did find a couple little springs though. At the parking area was a pit toilet and I believe 4 shaded picnic tables. The signs say no camping at the parking area, but I did see people parked overnight there. About 1/4 of a mile from the parking area is the ONE designated campsite, where you can stay up to 14 days for free. If you don't want to do the entire hike, you can see some of the petroglyphs within .5 mile from the parking area. Thank you so much for watching. I appreciate you being here!!
