Yama Tsukami Vs. Longsword - Monster Hunter Freedom Unite - ヤマツカミ 太刀 ソロ【MHP2G】

Yama Tsukami is by far one of the best and most unique fights in Monster Hunter. And this is a high statement considering that this monster only appeared in two games, and second generation games on top. I love its intro video. It doesn't even showcase Yama as something monstruous or dangerous. It just looks like such an elusive creature, a looming mysterious presence in the Tower region. With a completely unique body, sounds and attacks, and even its own arena, Yama Tsukami had a lot of work put into it. This a serious endurance fight as a solo player. Yama Tsukami is slow and very difficult to hit. There's a good bit of RNG on its moveset that will dictate how much damage you'll be able to deal to that thing. Damaging Yama Tsukami is obviously easier as a gunner, but some weapons such as Longsword or Hammer's Superpound can somewhat reach it when it is idle. There's also a little bit of strategy around the area you fight Yama Tsukami in. Yama Tsukami's deadly vacuum attack is a guaranteed one-hit faint regardless of your HP and defense. To give you some space to stay out of its reach, it's a good thing to move closer to the edges of the area so that you have more ground to run on when Yama starts trying to suck you. If Yama Tsukami was brought back, I would genuinely like it if the fight was kept about the same. It's slow, but I think it's a very well designed fight. Making Yama Tsukami drop down by throwing tranq bombs at it should be reworked a bit though ; it's even harder to hit it down there, except if you're lucky and it does the body slam move. This completion time is actually pretty good considering I didn't use Heroics, and it takes about a minute and a half to even get to Yama Tsukami. I'm very happy with this run and I think it's a great showcase as well. God I miss how LS was back then, all about positioning, and it has so much weight too. #monsterhunter #monsterhunterfreedomunite #MHFU
