While some struggle to make yoga practice a habit, others find it so enjoyable that they can't take breaks. However, especially with Ashtanga, which involves repeating the same sequence, you're constantly using certain muscles. While you might feel better after moving, it's important to allow your body to rest. • I have three patterns for rest: ① Saturday (one regular day off per week) ② Moon Day (full moon and new moon, twice a month) ③ Menstrual Leave (the first 2-3 days when I'm heaviest) • I use the approximately two hours I have free each day for different things depending on the meaning of the rest: housework, cross-training (①), other spiritual practices (②), or getting plenty of sleep (③). I also sometimes go out the night before a day off. • I used to enjoy practice so much, and wanting to improve, I ignored various rests and kept going. But now, having pushed myself to the limits of my physical abilities to the point of injury, I'm finding a balanced approach to my body by taking breaks and cross-training. • Just before the limit.
