Steal This Movement (Your Hips Will Thank You)

If you've ever had hip pain, it's not much fun. After decades of sitting in an office as a lawyer, my hips were incredibly tight and painful. I wasn't able to squat low and I eventually suffered from a labral tear. This injury required a lengthy rehabilitation with physiotherapy which was expensive and time consuming. So, after my injury healed, I started using the low squat daily to keep my hips healthy and pain free. In addition to stretching and spending time in the low squat, I began to move onto Locomotion Flow Pattern which are inspired from Capeoira Floreio and Dance moves. These ground moves are simple to learn and offer the lower body a a chance to improve mobility, strength, balance and co-ordination. In this video, I share two specific skills, the Cossack Insertion and the Cross Step which I teach you in isolation then in combination. I like to practice these skills 3-5 times taking a 60s break in between for 3 rounds per skill, then move onto sets on combinations. Try these moves out even if its just for a few minutes and let me know how your legs feel!
