Ruviest Nyx – Musicality, Musical, Music

Preamble: Ruviest is a small company headed by Abel Hsu which is dedicated to producing products which embody sonic excellence. Run by the acknowledged tuning master, Abel Hsu, Ruviest has laid its cards on the table with the Nyx. The $528 USD Nyx is just one of two products listed on the Ruviest website, which also includes the $440 USD Prelude. The Nyx boasts a driver complement of two dynamic drivers in an isobaric configuration, four balanced armatures, and a pair of planar magnetic drivers. The Nyx uses a three-way crossover to make the drivers play nice with each other. Tuning is mature and well-balanced with, if anything, a slight sub-bass lift. The Nyx’s sound isn’t about excess, but more focused on musicality and control. The Nyx is fairly easy to drive, and I surprisingly found it worked well with most sources I used to drive it. Still, for best synergy, I recommend a more resolving source to extract every bit of performance you’ve paid for, as the Nyx does scale with source quality, particularly in the bass.
