Los límites del cuerpo humano: 46,5 ºC de fiebre, 24 minutos sin aire y 382 días sin comer
❓ What would happen if the human body was pushed to its limits? ✅ Have you ever tried holding your breath for as long as possible? Have you ever walked through the desert in scorching temperatures? The human body seems fragile… until you look at its real limits: extreme cold, infernal heat, apnea, thirst, hunger and even maximum age. In this video, we explore, through real-life cases, the limits of what a person can endure before breaking down. We begin with the cold: how hypothermia occurs when the internal temperature drops by just 2°C, why unconsciousness sets in at 30°C, and why death is almost certain below 24°C… with a few exceptions that revolutionized medicine, such as Anna Bågenholm, trapped under ice for 80 minutes with a body temperature of 13.7°C, a case that spurred the use of therapeutic hypothermia to protect organs in critical situations. Then we move to the other extreme with the Badwater Ultramarathon in Death Valley, exploring the role of humidity and the point at which the body stops cooling itself, along with extreme records like Willie Jones's body temperature of 46.5°C. We also see how long you can hold your breath and why static apnea works thanks to the mammalian diving reflex, from Stéphane Mifsud's 11 minutes 35 seconds to Aleix Segura Vendrell's 24 minutes 3 seconds on pure oxygen. From that point on, survival becomes a countdown: without water, from a few hours in the heat and exertion to several days under normal conditions, with extreme cases like that of Andreas Mihavech; without food, from controlled fasts like Angus Barbieri's 382-day fast to the point where serious damage appears despite hydration. And we conclude with the most unsettling limits: how long human life could last according to contradictory studies, the verified record of Jeanne Louise Calment at 122 years and 164 days, and the paradox of death and consciousness with cases like that of Velma Thomas. It all culminates with sleep: records of deprivation, what really happens when the brain is deprived of rest, and fatal familial insomnia as the final boundary. In the end, what's terrifying is not how little we can endure, but how much… and the price we pay for approaching the edge.
