Old 8mm Diving Video 1969-70
This is a pretty rough collection of old 8mm movies shot in 1969-70 and recorded in 1980 using a VHS camcorder pointed at a home movie screen. Obviously this was well before digital transfer. All sections were shot using a Keystone Turret lens 8mm Movie Camera, The Underwater sections had the same camera in a somewhat waterproof plastic box with simple controls jutting through. The sequences were shot on the Shipwreck 'Lottie Wolf' off Hope Island in Southern Georgian Bay, The Wreck 'Maple Dawn' off Christian Island also in Southern Georgian Bay. Note, that at this time the Maple Dawn's bow was sticking out of the water about 7-8 feet, and you could actually dive off it. It's now completely submerged. Other sequences were shot at the Elora Quarry both during Summer, and through the Ice in winter. At that time the Elora Quarry in Elora Ontario, was just an abandoned hole in the ground. It's now a park. Most of this was a lot of fun, and everyone was hamming it up for the camera.
