LIVE MASS FROM BUJUMBURA | BISHOPS OF MBARARA ECCLESIASTICAL PROVINCE
BISHOPS OF MBARARA ECCLESIASTICAL PROVINCE MAKE FINAL CALL ON THEIR PASTORAL VISIT TO HOIMA Fr. Patrick Museveni Bujumbura, Hoima City | April 14, 2024 Brethren, there's an end to everything! As the words of the prophet go... "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed", Hoima Catholic Diocese is alive to this fact! Today has been the final day of the five Bishops of Mbarara Ecclesiastical Province Pastoral Visit to Hoima that started on 10 April 2024. The Mass for the Climax was at Bujumbura Cathedral led by the Archbishop of Mbarara, Most Reverend Lambert Bainomugisha Adyeeri. The other five bishops are Francis Aquirinus Kibira of Kasese, Callistus Rubaramira of Kabale, Robert Muhiirwa of Fort Portal and the host Vincent Kirabo of Hoima. Most reverend Lambert Bainomugisha stated that the main aim of this pastoral visit is not to assert their power as Proper Ordinaries of the province, but to journey with their flock, since according to St. Thomas Aquinas, "the appeal to authority is the weakest argument" just as in a disfunctional family the head always asserts his power (Amaka gafiire; Nyineeka ayeyanjura). His Grace reminded the congregation that the authority of the shepherds is not just to solve social problems, but to journey with their flock in their joys, fears and frustrations. "Each one of us has his own hardships and fears", the Archbishop noted and encouraged all the faithful to invite Jesus in their lives when it gets dark because where Jesus is, light is eternal and there's no darkness in him." Bishop Callistus Rubaramira reecoed the need to keep our dignity that we receive as children of God through baptism, the dignity that no other person gives nor take away from you. He charged the faithful to continue to walk in the light of faith and pass it on to their children. Whereas Archbishop Lambert posed the weakest argument, bishop Kibira staged the strongest argument; "to love one another." He encouraged prayer life and mutual love right in families in order to keep the Christian stronger. Bishop Robert Muhiirwa reminded the congregation about absentee father's in our homes (as stated in the papal exportation of the"Joy of Love", _Amoris Laetitia_). He requested the men to be good models in family life and being responsible like St. Joseph, the humble husband. As vice chairman Uganda Catholic Television Board, he informed the faithful of the availability of Uganda Catholic Television (UCTV) services, a 60 km radius free to air in the greater Kampala broadcasting zone and on ZUKU pay TV, Channel 070. He requested for prayers and support to the efforts that are ongoing to have it on DStv. Bishop Muhiirwa also informed the faithful that Bishop Vincent McCauley was proclaimed Servant of God (first step to Beatification). He advised the faithful to pray through him so that the process may not recede: a publicity team for the cause from Fort Portal would visit Hoima soon for details. Government representative Hon. Grace Mary Mrs. Mugasa welcomed the initiative of these rotational pastoral visits of the bishops of Mbarara Ecclesiastical Province. Mugasa also thanked the Catholic Church's initiative in the sectors of heath, education and social services through their departments in every diocese. She requested the bishops to synergise with government in bringing about a decent family lifestyle and environmental protection to answer the questions of climate change. Mugasa updated told the congregation that a decision has been reached to locate Bunyoro public university at part of Bulera Core PTC's land. The Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom (BKK) Prime Minister, Andrew Byakutaga, welcomed the bishops to Bunyoro nd invited them in advance to the to the 30 years of coronation anniversary of Omukama Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I due on June 11, 2024. In attendance was the former Bishop of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese, Nathan Kyamanywa, Okwiri of BKK, Mugenyi Rucunya, Hon. Members of Parliament Kazini Francis Buhaguzi East, Dr. Joseph Ruyonga Hoima West, Hon. Flora Natumanya WMP Kikuube district and Harriet Mugenyi Businge WMP, Hoima District, the Lord Mayor Brian Kaboyo and his Deputy Sylvia Nalumaga, Two representatives from each Parish community among others. #End. #Updates Hoima Catholic Diocese Social Communications Department.
