His mission is to leave a positive impact on people, motivating them to take action to prevent losing what they love in an emergency. He discovered his calling to service as a teenager when he volunteered with the Red Cross. Later, upon reaching adulthood, he joined the Costa Rican Fire Department. His career with the Fire Department spans over 35 years. He began as a volunteer firefighter and later became a fire investigator, head of the Prevention Engineering Department, and head of the Operations Department. For the past 15 years, he has served as the department's director general. He is a chemical engineer by profession, holds a master's degree in project management, and possesses extensive national and international training and experience in emergency prevention and coordination, fire investigation, risk assessment, fire protection, and industrial safety, among other areas.
