THE BEST OF THE 'BUDGET' CARS? The Story of the Jordan 199 (1999)

Someone asked the other day: Which is the best 'low budget' car. Originally, I said it was one of the Newey Leyton Houses, but the answer might have been staring us in the face the whole time. The Jordan 199. Heinz Harald Frentzen was in with a shot of WINNING the 1999 title in this thing. If 'that' race at the Nurburgring had gone to plan, he'd have entered the 1999 Malaysian Grand Prix just one point off Hakkinen, and equal with Irvine. Maybe Jordan would have attacked the race differently if he had won in Germany. But as it was, Jordan and Frentzen finished 3rd in both championships. With Damon Hill having a howler of a final year. His head was gone, and he wanted out. But still- The 1999 Jordan has become a cult hero not just for the results, but the way it looked. So how did they improve on their 1998 victory?
