1777 SIEGE OF FORT HARROD REENACTMENT! (2022) HISTORY!
We visited the 2022 reenactment of the Siege of Fort Harrod that took place in the Year of Bloody Sevens (1777). The battle was part of the Revolutionary War on the Western Frontier when the British enlisted the help of Native American tribes to raid the infant settlements on the frontier of Kentucky and Tennessee. In 1774, James Harrod had led pioneers to the area of modern day Harrodsburg, Kentucky and established the first settlement west of the Alleghenies. The settlers soon abandoned the settlement to fight in Lord Dunmore's War but returned in March of 1775. The settlement boomed with pioneers and in times of trouble took of settlers from many other stations from around the region. Fort Harrod was the largest of the settlements and was made the first capital of Kentucky County, Virginia. The year of 1777 brought fire to the frontier and this raid on Fort Harrod was one of the most significant events.
