Roy Aparicio was one of the thousands of Cubans confined in the UMAP (Military Units to Aid Production), veritable concentration camps created in Cuba during the 1960s. His only “crime” was belonging to a family that did not support the regime. Roy was forcibly picked up in a police car, transported in a completely sealed train car to Camagüey, and then taken by truck to barracks surrounded by barbed wire. There, the prisoners were constantly threatened: “You’ll never get out of here.” They endured hunger, mistreatment, physical and psychological abuse, humiliation, and inhumane conditions, marking their lives forever. This video is not fiction. It is historical memory. It is a testimony so that it is never forgotten.
