Excavator repairs: Final Drives & Difficult Electrical Problems. Case 170B.

I have been worried about the final drives on this excavator since I started restoring this old beast. Rebuilding or replacing would be very difficult and expensive, so keeping them in working order is a must, and that starts with good clean oil. I don't know what the state of the oil is in them yet, so lets tear in and see. Then I need "AC" to work in the hot weather, which takes a little more doing than you might think. Finally, I need to get this horn working because it is the alarm that sounds if the cooling system fails, and the horn button in the cab is the best and easiest way to test it.
