How NOT To Fix A Cracked Boom On A Large Excavator. Case 170B

In prepping to paint Marge, I found a big problem. Significant cracks in the boom where the arm cylinder attaches. I hadn't noticed this before for 2 reasons, 1 it was covered with dirt and grease, and 2, it's way up in the air when the machine is parked. But thankfully it hasn't ripped out yet and bent the metal, so it should be pretty easy to fix up, right? Riiighhht... Well, it would have been had I not forgotten 1 little step in the process. Huge mistake, which leads to me making another mistake with a porta power that sends shrapnel flying right by me. Yikes, this could have gone bad.
