Morocco: between sky and sea | WIDE
As soon as you leave behind the blue of the ocean, the only blue that endures is that of the skies over the vast expanses of the Moroccan kingdom. Here, blue is reminiscent of infinity and escape. It reminds the blue of tradition and the blue that protects from the evil eye. In Morocco, blue is a part of the thousand-year-old tradition of a little craftsman who amazes with his wealth. The blue of Fes, inspired by an ore, is one of the symbols of the oldest medina of the world: the blue zellij, small hand-carved pieces, adorn fountains, buildings and ancestral palaces. In the North, in the city of Chefchaouen, also called " the blue pearl of Morocco ", alleys and houses of the medina are completely covered with an indigo blue which was originally used to keep evil spirits away.
