Feel free to be brutal about it in the comments... 😂 This video is a bit of unemotional self analysis that I wanted to share. The background to me doing this is that there were points in 2021 where I was very worried about being made redundant, I'd been given my notice and the clock was ticking... I ended up getting a new job thank goodness, but in the mean time, I started to reassess my spending 💸 Perfume came up as a problem area. The amounts were small individually, but the frequency of purchasing made me stop and think. Being on YouTube or even watching YouTube means that you may end up buying more perfume than you ordinarily perhaps might. Let's be clear: buying this much of anything is NOT necessary (I hesitate to say not normal, because what is normal?). It's easy to get sucked into constantly chasing THE one (...or THE ten), buying more and more. Perfume is a big old world, with constant new kids on the block and you need to be very selective, otherwise you risk ending up unsatisfied and stuck in a haul-declutter cycle. Some people quietly sell what they don't like, others revel in decluttering for the views that it brings, others still are completely open and share their every purchase, every fail, every success. So it's confession time... If you don't know, I'm a scientist 👩‍🔬 and a geek 👩‍💻 What do scientists do? They collect data, they analyse it, 📊 they come to conclusions and they try to learn from them. What do geeks do? They overthink things and obsess about things that don't need to be thought about... Hence THIS VIDEO! 2021 was my first complete year on YouTube so, of course, being me, I spent it collecting data: how much perfume was I buying, using, decluttering, reselling and just how much was I spending on perfume? And most importantly, just what have I learnt from that analysis? 🤔 What do I want to change? ** I recorded this about three weeks ago so when I say "next year" I mean "this year" and when I say "this year", I mean "last year". It's annoying.
