Forested trails, rocky beaches and mountain views make təmtəmíxʷtən/Belcarra Regional Park a great place to explore year round. Swimming draws crowds to Sasamat Lake in summer. Trails range from easy to challenging for hikers and cyclists. The rocky shores are home to a rich variety of marine life. On October 8, 2021, təmtəmíxʷtən/Belcarra Regional Park’s name changed to better reflect its history and to mark a milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Metro Vancouver and Tsleil-Waututh Nation. Metro Vancouver is a federation of 21 municipalities, one electoral area and one treaty First Nation that collaboratively plans for and delivers regional-scale services. Its core services are drinking water, wastewater treatment and solid waste management. Metro Vancouver also regulates air quality, plans for urban growth, manages a regional parks system and provides affordable housing.
