Admiralty Heights Subarea Plan: Expanding access to parkland in təmtəmíxʷtən/Belcarra Regional Park

The Admiralty Heights subarea contains one of the region’s last large intact coastal forests. Located within təmtəmíxʷtən / Belcarra Regional Park, this culturally significant landscape supports sensitive ecosystems, diverse wildlife, and deep connections for səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation). As part of their Cultural Planning and Cooperation Agreement, Metro Vancouver and səlilwətaɬ are collaborating to create a long-term park management plan for this subarea of the park. This plan will guide decisions over the next 20+ years, including ecosystem stewardship, cultural use and visibility, trails and amenities, and nature-based education programming. Public input is helping shape a shared long-term vision for the subarea Metro Vancouver is a diverse organization that plans for and delivers regional utility services, including water, sewers and wastewater treatment, and solid waste management. It also monitors and regulates air quality, plans for urban growth, manages a regional parks system, provides affordable rental housing, and serves as a regional federation. The organization is a federation of 21 municipalities, one electoral area, and one treaty First Nation located in the region of the same name. The organization is made up of four separate legal entities, each governed by its own Board of Directors. Board directors are elected officials from member jurisdictions.
