Home tour : comment Nils a transformé une maison classique en lieu de vie chaleureux à Bettembourg

They gutted everything. Except for the terrazzo flooring, the cast-iron radiators, and the 1950s railing. Nils and his wife bought an old Luxembourgish house in Bettembourg. With Marie, they undertook a major renovation. But with a clear objective: to preserve what had character. The result is a mix of colors, vintage finds, and souvenirs from Morocco and Africa. And a few more iconic designer pieces, like the Eames Lounge Chair and a Roche Bobois sofa. In this video, Nils shares his decorating philosophy. No rules. No "does this go with that?" We keep what we love. We mix and match. And it creates a patchwork that works. He also talks about the real issue: not how many rooms to have, but how to live in it day-to-day. An open-plan kitchen in the center. Split levels to truly utilize the garden. Custom-made solutions with small artisans to keep costs down. And all those details that make all the difference: lighting chosen as decorative pieces, the preserved terrazzo flooring, sandblasted beams, the original cast-iron radiators, wallpaper used sparingly, and a sauna in the master suite. ⏱ CHAPTERS 0:00 A reimagined old Luxembourg house 0:30 Keeping the structure, reworking the interior 1:00 The living room: a patchwork of colors and travel inspiration 2:00 Flea market finds, patinated pieces, and love at first sight 3:00 Open-plan kitchen: thinking about how we live 5:00 Custom-made pieces and small artisans 6:00 Entrance hall and clever storage solutions 7:00 Terrazzo, cast iron, and a period railing 10:00 The children's floor 14:00 Master bedroom and insulated attic 17:00 Bathroom and home sauna 18:30 The garden designed season by season 20:00 The cellar: a children's playground 🔗 LINKS Full article → https://shesaidyes.lu/stories/ Alliance Paysage → https://alliance-paysage.lu All episodes → https://shesaidyes.lu/podcast All our Stories → https://shesaidyes.lu/stories 🏠 THE PLACE An old Luxembourgish house in Bettembourg, renovated and extended by Nils and Marie. The approach: to keep the existing structure, preserve the original terrazzo flooring, cast iron radiators, and railing, and focus the budget on the interior design. The structural plans were drawn up by an architect specializing in offices and corporate headquarters. An interior designer then managed the project and designed the custom furniture: a bench by the fireplace, a kitchen bench, storage units in the entrance hall, and a bench in the bedroom. The garden was designed by Alliance Paysage, season by season, in a bucolic style. The artworks include a painting by Kev Mooney (pop art, street art) and pieces sourced from Morocco. 📍 WHERE?
