Spronser Lakes, Taufenscharte Pass, and the Merano High Trail in one tour – one of the most spectacular circular hikes in South Tyrol! From Dorf Tirol, the trail leads up to South Tyrol's largest high-alpine lake district. 😍🏔️ The hike begins at the Hochmuth cable car valley station in Dorf Tirol. The cable car takes you up to the Muthöfe farms at around 1,400 meters. After a short climb to the Gasthaus Steinegg inn, one of the most beautiful sections of the Merano High Trail begins, offering breathtaking views of Merano and the Texel Group mountain range. From the Leiteralm alpine pasture, the trail continues up to the impressive Taufenscharte Pass (Karjoch). Afterward, it passes the famous Spronser Lakes, South Tyrol's largest high-alpine lake district. On my hike, I pass by the Grünsee, Langsee, Kasersee, and Pfitscher Lacke lakes, among others, before stopping at the Oberkaser Alm mountain hut for a delicious slice of cake and a cappuccino. ☕🍰 The return route leads through the beautiful Spronsertal valley, past the cozy Bockerhütte (Pockerhütte), where I enjoy a refreshing FORST beer.
