C'est pas sorcier - ODYSSEE DES PLANTES
It all began in the oceans nearly 4 billion years ago. The essential ingredients for life came together to form a bacterium that would soon give rise to tiny algae. Some 3 million years later, the descendants of these algae arrived on land. The great adventure of plants could begin! Stems, roots, leaves, seeds, flowers, and fruits appeared one after another, constantly refining the reproductive strategies of these plants that colonized the planet's surface. This week, Sabine and Jamy tell us the fabulous odyssey of plants. Mission: Sabine set out to trace the very first plants that inhabited the terrestrial environment. Algae, mosses, and horsetails—she tells us how these species evolved to give rise to the stemmed and leafy plants we know today. We then find her in an extraordinary garden - the Valloires garden, in the Somme - to discover with her how the trees that reach ever higher for light thanks to their slender trunks were born, or how the flowers and fruits appeared that ensure the dispersal of the plant's sex cells by attracting animals with colors and perfumes of infinite variety.
