The standard round brilliant is a great project for beginners. It invariably looks terrific, and it's very forgiving. I cut the pavilion in the canonical way, and I decided to jazz up the crown a little. If you follow me on the pavilion, you should have no trouble cutting the canonical standard round brilliant.
