Steve Moriarty takes on the mammoth task of finishing the crown on the biggest Morganite he's ever laid eyes on, aiming for a museum quality gemstone. He dives into cutting 80 facets with a mix of anticipation and a plan involving a variety of laps for that perfect cut and polish. Adjusting angles and squaring up facets becomes the game. It's a journey through grits, from 360 to the finer 600, and 1200, all to speed up that final polish. The crown sees Moriarty wrestling with the the monster table, applying techniques, and occasionally winging it to keep everything square and shiny. Despite the meticulous process and the hours spent polishing, there's an air of casual mastery as he navigates through the challenge. After finishing all the polishing he soaks off the epoxy overnight in anticipation of the big reveal.
