Solo Backpacking Hercules Glades - Missouri's Most Remote Wilderness
Today I’m heading into Hercules Glades Wilderness for a one-night solo backpacking trip. This area is considered to be the most remote backcountry in all of Missouri. I will be hiking the Coy Bald Trail, a 6.7 mile loop, beginning at the western-side trailhead. On this first day I’ll only be hiking in a couple of miles to a campsite with an awesome overlook, hoping to catch a beautiful sunset and to do a little stargazing when night falls. On day two I’ll break down camp and continue along the trail, walking through the scenic glades and making my way down to Long Creek. I’m excited to get back into the wilderness to do some backpacking! Come join me on my adventure through Hercules Glades Wilderness.
