Goodbye Chinatown - A Documentary From The Reynolds School of Journalism
In the 1800’s, Reno was home to one of the largest Chinatowns in the western United States. But, in 2018, there is no concentrated community of Chinese Americans in Reno. Reno's Chinatown was subject to decades of outright animosity, fueled by anti-Chinese sentiments by California's Working Man's Party. This resulted in Chinatown being burned to the ground on two different occasions. The documentary will explores life after the razing, through the perspective of the last business in Chinatown. Directed by: Paolo Zialcita & Lauren Bain Director of Photography: Kacee Johnson Chief Editor: Nikki McGrath This documentary was sponsored by the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno.
