176. Corrine's Hervey Bay Slow Stitch Retreat | Nature Inspiration, Stitching, Shopping & Treasures
Can a walk along the beach improve your slow stitch? Join me as I spend four wonderful days at the To Be Loved Treasures Retreat in Hervey Bay, Queensland. Before I even picked up a needle, I explored the shoreline, paying close attention to the colours, textures, light and tiny details that would inspire my coastal-themed Japanese komebukuro (rice bag). In this video I share what is going on inside my head as I work on my pieces. Observing nature helped my composition choices, from deciding on perspective and colour palette to suggesting light, shadow and movement with fabric and thread. See some wonderful fellow stitchers and see the beautiful handmade gifts I received, browse my retreat shopping haul, learn to make simple air-dry clay shells, meet "Fabio" the betta fish, and visit the moving Finding Eliza exhibition. Can you believe there were 12 slow stitching YouTubers at this retreat? How well do you know their hands? Join in a fun game of 'Guess the YouTuber', leaving your guesses in a comment. Here are all the lovely YouTubers so you can explore their channels: Leanne @leannescraftycupboard Corrine @tobelovedtreasuresbycorrine Dawn @dawnmeldrum1267 Sarah @roxycreationsbysarah Karen @RailwayCottageStudio Tia @CalmCreations Christina @christinacreatesau Kathy @kamahskreations1260 Kristy @SewbitsKristy Susanna @vintageblendstudio Yvonne @Evonseasidecottage Colette @CCDavisStudio If you enjoy slow stitch, embroidery, textile art and finding inspiration in the natural world, I hope you'll enjoy coming along.
