Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus Crash Site, Ivanhoe Interlocking

The Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus Train Wreck site in Gary Indiana and Ivanhoe Interlocking. I met up with the Steel City Storm crew and explore the railroad signals and other related infrastructure of the area around Ivanhoe. Ivanhoe Interlocking/Junction is very well known to railroaders and rail fans, as well as followers of the circus train accident of 1918. CSX now owns the right-of-way where the accident occurred over a hundred years ago. The ROW is named the CSX Porter Branch, which used to be the Michigan Central main line prior to New York Central Railroad's acquisition of MC and its assets in 1914. Ivanhoe Tower belonged to EJ&E, and they controlled movements through the area until around 1995, when the tower was demolished and replaced with a remotely controlled operation. I head to the Great Hammond Circus Crash of 1918 site and meet up with Steel City Storm to do a historical tour. Then we head out to Ivanhoe Interlocking.
