On La Tercera's streaming program, the president of the Broad Front, Constanza Martínez, asserted that the promise of debt forgiveness for student loans (CAE) made by the government of former president Gabriel Boric did not increase delinquency rates among borrowers. She thus distanced herself from former ministers of that administration who have suggested that possibility. When asked about the statements made by former Interior Minister Carolina Tohá, who claimed that "there were errors in how that promise was handled," Martínez replied: "I believe the problem with student loans is deeper than the request for forgiveness," adding that the problem stems from the State because "there was an unfair public policy for an entire generation."
