At the very top of the questionnaire, there is a section marked with a yellow checkmark, which is considered the most important. It is the section for occupation. Many patients leave this section blank. Some even get offended, asking why their job matters when they are here to lose weight. However, according to recent studies, one's occupation may actually be more important than what one eats. Recently, at the European Society for the Study of Obesity, a research team from the University of Queensland in Australia conducted an in-depth study of data from 33 OECD member countries spanning a whopping 32 years, from 1990 to 2022. A very interesting result emerged from this study. It showed a very distinct and significant finding: for every 1% increase in annual working hours, the obesity rate rose by an average of 0.17%.
