This session will present Design Thinking as a creative process that contextualizes complex problems to design solutions centered on human emotions. Its main virtues are interdisciplinarity, direct interaction with reality, and rapid and economical prototyping. This session will also present potential applications in an organization and concrete implementation cases. Ricardo Morais is a Professor of Management at the Catholic University of Portugal in Porto, coordinator of the Eden seminar “How to design your PhD” at the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM) in Brussels, founder of Idea Puzzle, and alumnus of the HPI School of Design Thinking in Germany. He holds a PhD in Strategic Management from the University of Jyväskylä (the first Portuguese PhD in Social Sciences in Finland) and a degree in Management from the University of Porto. His research interests include theory development, critical realistic case studies, strategic formulation, multinational management, and design thinking. Since 2002, he has taught these subjects at more than 50 universities in 11 countries. He is a member of the Academy of Management, the Strategic Management Society, and the Academy of International Business.
