Dracula există? Călătoria reală prin Pasul Tihuța

This documentary is a real journey through a story that forever changed the way the world sees Transylvania. We start from Bistrița, the city mentioned in the very first chapter of the famous novel Dracula (1897), written by Bram Stoker, and we follow Jonathan Harker's route step by step to Borgo Pass – the current Tihuța Pass – the place where literature, mythology and geography meet in a unique way. Together with Răzvan Cerceja, director of ADI Turism Bistrița-Năsăud, the documentary reconstructs the historical and symbolic context of this road: from the passport of imperial times, to the Corona de Aur inn, the place where Stoker's character stopped before setting off for Count Dracula's castle. The story is not just a fictional one, but one anchored in a real space, which continues to fascinate tourists from all over the world. We travel through the Bârgăului Valley, one of the most spectacular valleys in Romania, faithfully described in the novel, between the Călimani and Rodna Mountains. We discover local legends, the mythology of werewolves and undead, but also the harsh history of the borders of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the fortifications, the Roman road and the old checkpoints. Each kilometer brings a change of scenery and a new story. The documentary also sheds light on experiential tourism: the Dracula Castle Hotel in the Tihuța Pass, born from Western interest in the vampire myth, the Via Transilvanica – the road that crosses Romania from Putna to Drobeta Turnu Severin – and the andesite milestones meant to last a thousand years. Borgo Pass thus becomes a meeting point between the past, present and future. The journey continues towards the border between Transylvania and Bucovina, where the tranquility of the place, the extremely clean air and the mountain landscapes create an almost unreal experience. The end of the route takes us to Colibița, a reborn climatic resort, with one of the most ozonized airs in Romania, the reservoir and the new investments that transform the area into a major tourist hub. This material is not just a guided tour, but an invitation to understand how a story written over 120 years ago continues to shape the identity of a place, generate development and attract people from all over the world.
